History and Development of Zhengzhou Foreign Language School

In July 1983, the first foreign language school in Henan Province was established and named Zhengzhou Foreign Language School.

In 1986, the school moved from Tongqingli Hutong, Buchang Street to 65 Longhai West Road. It had four junior high school classes and two senior high school classes per grade.

In 1988, the school was renamed Zhengzhou Foreign Language School after being filed with the Henan Provincial Education Commission and the National Education Commission.

In 1994, the school attracted national attention by producing the top scorers in both foreign language and humanities in the college entrance examination of Henan Province.

In 2000, the high school department was relocated on Fengyang Street in the Zhengzhou High-tech Industrial Development Zone with an investment of 86 million yuan.

In 2001, the school was designated as one of the first 13 foreign language schools in China with the qualification to recommend students for admission to universities.

In 2003, the Longhai Road campus was named Zhengzhou Foreign Language Middle School for junior high school and the Fengyang Street campus was named Zhengzhou Foreign Language School for senior high school.

In 2006, the entire school moved to No. 73 Middle School temporarily, and the Longhai Road campus began reconstruction.

In 2007, the new Longhai Road campus was completed and put into use, and all teachers and students returned during the summer vacation.

In 2009, 15.9 acres of new teaching land was added to the north of the campus.

In 2013, the new swimming pool, gymnasium, sky garden, and east gate were put into use, and the 30th anniversary celebration was successfully held.

In 2017, the school became the first "Cambridge English School" in the central region of China and hosted the FCE exam for the first time, becoming the only high school exam center in the country.

In 2020, Zhengzhou Foreign Language Middle School adjusted its education management system to the Zhengzhou Zhongyuan District Education Bureau.

In 2022, Zhengzhou Foreign Language School Education Group was officially established and two new campuses, Lianhu Middle School (West Campus) and Zhengzhou Experimental Middle School (North Campus), were approved. The group also led the efficient development of five other schools, including No. 16 Middle School, No. 52 Middle School, No. 66 Middle School, No. 69 Middle School, and Zhengzhou Foreign Language Primary School.

In 2023, the Lianhu campus (West Campus) of Zhengzhou Foreign Language School will officially enroll students in the fall, and the school will celebrate its 40th anniversary.
